Even Blue New York Gets It – Papers Endorse Romney

We have seen over the past week a large number of newspapers defect from President Obama.  These are major papers that wholeheartedly endorsed “hope and change” in the 2008 election.

Now today, after the President took his victory lap of disaster struck New York and then scuttled back to his campaigning, even that city’s papers have turned on him.  The New York Post not only endorsed Mitt Romney in today’s paper, the included a scathing review of the failures and disappointments of Obama’s last four years.  They call it “Our choice for America’s future: The Daily News endorses Mitt Romney for president” and it is well worth the read.

Vote Or Die…

… a coward’s thousand deaths.  Bill Whittle says it better than anyone when he says that a vote for ANYONE but Mitt Romney is a vote for socialism and the destruction of our republic as it was founded.  Take a moment to watch and then share it with everyone.

Best Post-Debate Roundup (Taiwanese)

Last night the candidates for President met for the first time in a debate setting.  You’ve probably seen the spin machines already at work and had your e-mail inundated.  For a brief but complete (and absolutely hilarious) roundup of the debate, watch below.

You almost don’t need the subtitles.

Government Didn’t Build It

The most revealing thing Obama has said during the 2012 campaign continues to bite him on the butt… and HARD.  The reaction of business owners to his “you didn’t build that” comment continues with all of the creativity and intensity and energy that are the hallmarks of the American entrepreneurial spirit.

From roadside signs to refusing the use of your business as a campaign photo-op for the Vice President, business owners are expressing their long pent-up frustration at a government that has “erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”  However, the owner of Davenport, Iowa Village Corner Deli did agree to cater an event during President Obama’s recent visit.  He just made sure that he wore a Mitt Romney campaign shirt while doing it.

The outrage over the President’s comments has taken on a life of its own.  Weeks later the controversy has only sharpened as the true import of what was said is examined.  In one of the notoriously long comment threads over at the Ace Of Spades HQ, a poster summarized his feelings of anger, frustration, and betrayal that Obama’s statements have brought to the surface – and the forefront of the campaign.

129 As a small business owner all I can say is that I think the current sentiment in the small business community is that we didn’t sign up for this shit. Y’all can vote for whatever the hell you want but we are not going to be a part of it.

I have seen more owners get out of the business or retire in the past couple of years than ever before and with the ACA on the horizon the jobs these businesses produced will not be replaced. The economics no longer work. This is why unemployment is always so high in socialist countries. What you have to go through to have employees is just brutal.

But here’s the thing about what Obama said — he has it exactly backwards. The government didn’t build any of that shit he is talking about — we built it. We are the ones who paid for it. Not only did we build our businesses we built the schools and the roads and everything else he thinks was generated out of thin air. If you want to get technical about it the businesses and taxpayers that came along before we did built it all and now we are building what comes next.

And not only that, but we did it with the albatross of a predatory, corrupt and overbearing government hanging around our necks at every juncture.

And now we have had enough…

Go read the whole thing here.

No advertising agency or focus group could have developed a campaign with as much impact as Obama’s own un-telepromptered disdain for free market capitalism.  Statements like these demonstrate daily to the American people why the economy is where it is.  Government did build this…

Eligibility Requirements For The Office Of President Of The United States

In life, we all have needs and wants.  These are two different things.

The needs, or necessities, of life are what it takes stay vertical and ventilated.  We need air, food, water, and freedom to live.  Everything beyond these adds or changes the quality of life.  Restrictions upon any of these places our very existence in jeopardy.

The wants of life are your hopes, dreams, wishes, and covetous impulses.   Many times these wants are detrimental to our lives and can end up threatening our actual needs.  I WANT cake for breakfast – I can justify having it because cake provides some of what I need.  But, what it supplies on the want side is NOT good for me.

What this little rant has been leading up to is the current hue and cry – on both sides of the political spectrum – for DOCUMENTS about our Presidential candidates.  This side wants tax returns.  That side wants  college transcripts.  Some cry out for medical records on both candidates.

I admit that I am not immune from the urge to know as much as I possibly can about the future leaders of our great nation.  Sure, I’d love to know a young Barry Sotero managed to travel to Pakistan when American’s were prohibiting from visiting state sponsors of terrorism.  I am not quite as concerned with whether Anne Romney’s horse was being bred with horses of big donors to her husband’s campaign.  But, I’m sure someone is.

Guess what?  The only way you are going to get this information is if the campaigns decide to release them.  There is no law or constitutional requirement to provide every nosy-Nellie in the body politic with the private details of a candidate’s life.  The campaigns also know that for every document that they release, the other side can and will twist and distort the information to their sides best advantage.  Unfortunately, that is the era of politics in which we now live.

Here is what you Do get:

The Constitution of the United States of America

Article II, Section 1

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States

Any other information you get is gravy.

At the moment, Congress is ignoring the business of a nation in its worst economic crisis in almost 100 years.  Unemployment is alarmingly high, trillions of dollars have been added to the deficit for make-work and payback for political supporters, and regulations are strangling the last spark of entrepreneurial spirit in this country.  Meanwhile, your representatives are arguing over passage of a law to require the release of a candidates tax records, college transcripts, and medical records.  This is a total waste of time designed to try to tar the other side with a brush dipped in obstructionism and deceit.  What a crock!

Congress can not and should not pass any such legislation.  The mere act of considering of such legislation is a violation of their oaths of office.  If they would bother to read the Constitution that they have sworn to “support and defend”, they would know that they do not have the power to place requirements upon those who would seek to hold the office of President of the United States.  To do that they need to amend the Constitution.  Shame on them.

If you want more information, do your own research.  Email the candidate’s campaign.  Write a letter to the editor.  Go to a town hall or rally and stand in line for the microphone.  Don’t press your legislator to make a futile and unconstitutional effort to fulfill your wants.  I don’t think it will get you what you need.

So, We Didn’t Build It? (Video)

After President Obama’s asinine statement that “…look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own.”, the backlash has been palpable.  Entrepreneurs, business people, inventors, and every day folks that have a basic grasp of free market economics have been pushing back.

The media says that the comments were taken out of context.  Well, I argue that his comments were the un-telepromptered truth.  Read the text here for context.

Governor Romney has it right when he says “President Obama attacks success, and therefore under Obama we have less success.”  To push that point home, the campaign has released a new video.

Let’s Check Obama’s credentials.

Here’s what Obama is trying to say.

And here is what a real leader says about American progress and success.

Romney Outsourcing? No Evidence Video

Just like he did against Hillary Clinton, President Obama now continues to spread dishonest attacks about Mitt Romney to distract from his failed record. Even though fact check after fact check have found his claims to be false, he continues to not tell the truth to the American people. It is no wonder why our country has lost confidence in his leadership.

But, it turns out that prominent donor to both President Obama and the Democrat Party Ralph Lauren HAS been outsourcing jobs.  In fact, after getting a contract to provide uniforms for the United States Olympic Team, Lauren’s company outsourced their manufacture to China.

Here are a few more of Obama’s greatest outsourcing hits.

  • Bankrupt Solyndra and Beacon power received $578 million from the government and were either foreign-owned or manufactured overseas.
  • Three taxpayer guaranteed loans totalling 2.78 billion to Spanish energy firm Abengoa creating only 195 permanent jobs ($14 million per job).
  • Fisker Automotive got loans of $529 million to manufacture products in Finland.  they recently announced more layoffs and are attempting to secure more government funding.

UPDATE:  Don’t forget that Obama has also outsourced our space program… to the Russians.  “Next American woman heads for space — on this Russian rocket

A Few Facts About Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee for President soon.  The main stream media has gone from covert partisan support of Obama to all-out lies in their coverage of the Republican candidate.  It’s time to start arming yourself with a few facts that you wont get from the press.

  • After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as an attorney.
  • As a venture-capitalist, Romney’s first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.
  • Romney or his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the “Bain Way”) would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino’s, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.  Without Bain, these companies and the hundreds of thousands of jobs they represent would not exist.

  • Volunteer campaign worker for his dad’s gubernatorial campaign 1 year.
  • Unpaid intern in Governor’s office 8 years.
  • Mormon missionary in Paris 2 years.
  • Unpaid bishop and state president for his church 10 years.
  • No salary as president of the Olympics 3 years.
  • No salary as MA governor 4 years.

That’s a grand total of 28 years of unpaid service to his country, his community and his church. Why?Because that’s the kind of man Mitt Romney is!

And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income….Obama gave 1%.  Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%,

This is real character vs…. well you know what!

Many will say that Romney may not be the best representative the Republicans could have selected.  But no one candidate could live up to all the wants and desires of the gamut of conservative and Republican voters.  At least I know what religion he is and that he won’t desecrate the flag or bow down to foreign powers. He wont squander my money on vacations, separate flights for the First Dog, or fly his pizza in from over a thousand miles away. I know he has the will and ability to turn this country around and end the financial debacle that this spendthrift President has gotten us into. We didn’t know that when Obama said he’d give us change, he meant nickels and dimes, and he would get the big bucks. We won’t like all the things necessary to recover from this debt, but someone with Romney’s background can do it.  Obama wont!

But, on the minus side, Romney:

  •  never was a “Community Organizer”
  • never took drugs or smoked pot
  • never got drunk
  • did not associate with communists or terrorists
  • did not attend a church whose pastor called for God to damn the US.

November is coming!

Word of the day – Obamneycare

Spell check just called me a nasty name but this is a word that we will see a lot (I hope) during the upcoming primaries.  Obamneycare is the mutant, hybrid, job-killing, economy drowning, 800 lb gorilla standing in Mitt’s corner.  The unconstitutional cornerstone of Romney’s Mass-care program was the individual mandate.  Obama’s progressive allies used that plan not just as an example but as the model for what they wanted to inflict on the rest of America.

Romney has deftly skipped over and around this albatross without confronting the disastrous consequences it has had for Massachusetts and will have for America.  Until he repudiates the progressive takeover of healthcare and pledges to repeal Obamacare in toto, Governor Romney needs to hear this word over and over.  Obamneycare puts the lie to his claims of true conservative leadership.

(BTW:  The term “Obamneycare” was coined by Governor Tim Pawlenty on Fox News Sunday this past week.  Why he didn’t use it in the debate I don’t know.  Even Reagan’s 11th commandment has limits.)

Romney-vision… look into the future!

Yesterday the pundits were all a-twitter (sorry-NOT Wiener reference) over the Romney campaign decision to not participate in the Iowa caucuses.  Many on the right see it as a concession that he doesn’t have the conservative credentials to win in the tea party heartland.  Some liberals use the news to claim the move is super smart because he refuses to engage tea party radicals.  The media, however, are awed by the brilliant strategy and gush about how this proves he is the only “serious” threat to Obama’s reelection (I say that Obama is the biggest threat to Obama’s reelection).

But the media view is the one that is most important to focus on.  When in recent decades has the establishment media dealt with conservatives honestly?  The major media all want us to believe that their analysis unbiased and accurate.  Well, with their bias, why should we?  If their analysis tells us that one candidate is the real threat to Obama, wouldn’t it reason that the opposite is true.  Wouldn’t it stand to reason that they would want to promote the Republican candidate with the least chance of dethroning their anointed favorite?

I don’t bring this up to say that Romney actually is the weakest of the field.  But I do think that we need to examine the whole field, see who the democrat-led media dismisses and derides as “unelectable”, “too extreme”, “non-serious” candidate and judge for ourselves.  Remember that these media giants… these self-proclaimed bastions of truth and objectivity… these are the outlets that failed to cover Edwards’ infidelities, attacked Joe the plumber, and excused the deceit and debauchery of Wiener.  Who’s side do you think they are on?
