A Harley rider is passing the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to kill and eat her under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.

A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter says, “Sir, that was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life.”

The biker replies, “Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and did what I felt was the right thing.”

The reporter says, “Well, I’m a journalist from the New York Times, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?”

The biker replies, “I’m a U.S. Marine and a Republican.”

The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

Disaster in Afghanistan – Media/ Obama Silent

The spin machine of the mainstream media is struggling to distract us from more of President Obama’s bungling in the Middle East.  It has been reported that last friday tow U.S. service members were killed in southern Afghanistan by Taliban “militants” dressed as U.S. soldiers.  Some news outlets carried the story as a tie-in to the fact that Britain’s Prince Harry is currently stationed at that airbase as an AH-64 Apache pilot.  They informed the world breathlessly that the Royal was never in any danger – and then took the time to remind us of the Las Vegas party pictures that surfaced several weeks ago from the Princes pre-deployment bash.

The story that the majority of the mainstream media decided was unworthy of reporting was the true scale of the attack on Camp Bastion.  Approximately 15 “insurgents” dressed in U.S. military uniforms penetrated the defenses of the airbase while armed with automatic weapons, rockets, and suicide vests.  Moving in three teams and in a well-coordinated attack, they managed to wound 9 NATO personnel and kill two United States Marines – Lt. Col. Chris Raible and Sgt. Bradley Atwell.

Tragic as the loss of life is, much more far-reaching are the consequences of what equipment was destroyed.  The attackers were able to reach the flightline and destroy 6 and severely damage 2 of the 10 the Harrier jump jets there.  All of the aircraft belonged to the recently arrived Marine Attack Squadron 211 (VMA-211).  We are assured by the ISAF however that this would result in “no impact to ground or air operations from Camp Bastion.”

Costing upwards of $30 million each, the financial aspect of this attack are quite stark in light of the Obama administrations dithering over the coming budget sequestration of defense spending.  The Harriers are slated to be replaced by F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters over the next 15 years.  However, while those replacements dribble in, the ground loss on Friday represents 1/15th of the Marine’s worldwide Harrier inventory.  Even if aircraft are shifted to replace those lost at Camp Bastion, the number of aircraft able to be deployed to other areas has been significantly impacted.  Yet the press wants to tell us that the current problems in the Middle East at large and Afghanistan in particular are the result of Mitt Romney’s “gaffes”.  Welcome to bizzar-o-world.

Need To Get Caught Up?

Wow!  The Republican National Convention in  Tampa was quite an event.  The city of Tampa kept its guests entertained yet safe.  Despite the need to divert resources to storm preparations for the possible landfall of Hurricane Isaac, the city was able to handle things with grace and aplomb.  There were even reports that protesters complemented security operations over events in the past.

However, the mainstream press didn’t do itself any favors in the way they covered the event.  From describing every third word as racist to “airbrushing out” almost all of the minority speakers, we see once again how deep in the bag they are for President Obama.  They couldn’t even be bothered to fact-check their own commentators; instead deciding to allow blatant  lies from political agents to be reported as fact.

Despite this constant irritation, I really enjoyed the speeches.  If you haven’t had time to watch them, you should check out the 2012 Republican National Convention YouTube channel.  Especially fun is the ad-libbed talk by Hollywood great Clint Eastwood.  Many in the media are trying to portray him as unwatchable and inarticulate (Shultz and Maddow on MSNBC) or the speech as disjointed or pathetic.

This is far from the truth.  I agree with Richard Fernandez’s assessment:  “It was an old man’s delivery, but overstatedly so for effect. It was a cutting delivery and for that reason delivered in low-key.”

Obama’s War On Seniors

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan made a great point last night.  The biggest threat to Medicare is Obamacare.

The President and his defenders like to say that they didn’t take $716 Billion from Medicare.  They say that it is still there.  But, you and I both know that if you are using that $716 billion for Obamacare then it isn’t there for our seniors.  You can’t use the same (huge) pile of money to fund both programs.  If Medicare costs will be reduced through improvements and cost savings, who gets paid less?  The doctors and hospitals that are currently treating our seniors are already paid way below market for their services.  More cuts mean fewer doctors will take Medicare patients.  Those that do will have to make up in volume what they lose in per patient reimbursement.  Less time with your physician and longer waits for visits will play nicely with the government overseers that get to determine what kind of treatments you will be allowed to receive.

But, Medicare is not the only place that the administration is covertly hurting our seniors.  look at this economy.  Higher gas and food prices hit those on fixed incomes especially hard.  To make ends meet, more seniors are trying to stay in the workforce longer or find work after “retirement”.  The current high unemployment is forcing generations to move back in together just to keep afloat, further depressing housing values that seniors thought formed the backbone of their retirement portfolio.  Add to this the abysmally low-interest rates that seniors are receiving on their savings and you have a real disaster on your hands.

Glenn Reynolds (the Instapundit) has a great analysis of these and other economic problems created or exacerbated by this President.

Our seniors are suffering and face increasing hardship.  Yet, the media choose to ignore the crisis at hand.  I guess we can tell who they are rooting for.

Romney Outsourcing? No Evidence Video

Just like he did against Hillary Clinton, President Obama now continues to spread dishonest attacks about Mitt Romney to distract from his failed record. Even though fact check after fact check have found his claims to be false, he continues to not tell the truth to the American people. It is no wonder why our country has lost confidence in his leadership.

But, it turns out that prominent donor to both President Obama and the Democrat Party Ralph Lauren HAS been outsourcing jobs.  In fact, after getting a contract to provide uniforms for the United States Olympic Team, Lauren’s company outsourced their manufacture to China.

Here are a few more of Obama’s greatest outsourcing hits.

  • Bankrupt Solyndra and Beacon power received $578 million from the government and were either foreign-owned or manufactured overseas.
  • Three taxpayer guaranteed loans totalling 2.78 billion to Spanish energy firm Abengoa creating only 195 permanent jobs ($14 million per job).
  • Fisker Automotive got loans of $529 million to manufacture products in Finland.  they recently announced more layoffs and are attempting to secure more government funding.

UPDATE:  Don’t forget that Obama has also outsourced our space program… to the Russians.  “Next American woman heads for space — on this Russian rocket

A Few Facts About Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee for President soon.  The main stream media has gone from covert partisan support of Obama to all-out lies in their coverage of the Republican candidate.  It’s time to start arming yourself with a few facts that you wont get from the press.

  • After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as an attorney.
  • As a venture-capitalist, Romney’s first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.
  • Romney or his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the “Bain Way”) would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino’s, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.  Without Bain, these companies and the hundreds of thousands of jobs they represent would not exist.

  • Volunteer campaign worker for his dad’s gubernatorial campaign 1 year.
  • Unpaid intern in Governor’s office 8 years.
  • Mormon missionary in Paris 2 years.
  • Unpaid bishop and state president for his church 10 years.
  • No salary as president of the Olympics 3 years.
  • No salary as MA governor 4 years.

That’s a grand total of 28 years of unpaid service to his country, his community and his church. Why?Because that’s the kind of man Mitt Romney is!

And in 2011 Mitt Romney gave over $4 million to charity, almost 19% of his income….Obama gave 1%.  Joe Biden gave $300 or .0013%,

This is real character vs…. well you know what!

Many will say that Romney may not be the best representative the Republicans could have selected.  But no one candidate could live up to all the wants and desires of the gamut of conservative and Republican voters.  At least I know what religion he is and that he won’t desecrate the flag or bow down to foreign powers. He wont squander my money on vacations, separate flights for the First Dog, or fly his pizza in from over a thousand miles away. I know he has the will and ability to turn this country around and end the financial debacle that this spendthrift President has gotten us into. We didn’t know that when Obama said he’d give us change, he meant nickels and dimes, and he would get the big bucks. We won’t like all the things necessary to recover from this debt, but someone with Romney’s background can do it.  Obama wont!

But, on the minus side, Romney:

  •  never was a “Community Organizer”
  • never took drugs or smoked pot
  • never got drunk
  • did not associate with communists or terrorists
  • did not attend a church whose pastor called for God to damn the US.

November is coming!

Media Attacks Catholics Instead Of Reporting On Obamacare Lawsuits

Still silent over the 43 lawsuits filed earlier this week by Catholic institutions across the country, major media outlets decide today to cover instead decades old stories of alleged abuse.  Is this a concerted effort to bury the embarrassing news that churches have been forced to sue the government of the one nation on Earth FOUNDED on the principle of freedom?  Smear and distract is a tactic that the left has used to great effect since Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals was published in 1971.  I think the proof that this IS the approach chosen by the lame-stream media is in the fact that ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts have spent just 19 seconds in the past 72 hours on the fight to protect the conscientious objections of millions of religious people and dozens of related organizations and schools from the forced imposition of a bureaucrats morality (is there such a thing?).

Since the media has chosen their side, it seems that Christians of other denominations are choosing theirs.  Today the leaders of 10 prominent non-Catholic religious groups have spoken out about the obvious bias of the media illustrated by their refusal to cover the story.  They are:

Tony Perkins – President, Family Research Council

Gary L. Bauer – Former Presidential Candidate, President American Values; Chairman the Campaign for Working Families

Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01)

Dr. Charmaine Yoest – President and CEO of Americans United for Life

Rev. Louis P. Sheldon – Chairman, Traditional Values Coalition

Andrea Lafferty – President, Traditional Values Coalition

Dr. Keith Wiebe – President. American Association of Christian Schools

Mathew Staver – Founder and Chairman, Liberty Counsel; Dean and Professor, Liberty University School of Law; Director, Liberty Center for Law and Policy

Phylls Schlafly – Founder and President, Eagle Forum

Gregory Baylor – ADF Senior Counsel

The excoriating comments in their statements illustrate the frustration that many Christians feel daily as the media denigrates their faith, dilutes their traditions, and dismisses their principles.

Obama, his liberal cronies, and the sycophantic mainstream media shrug off the concerns of the faithful and conscientious of America.  This alone will not cost him the election.  The president will lose the coming election over his horrendous economic policies.  But, will America lose her soul before his immoral bureaucracy is uprooted?

Catholic Church Sues Smartest President Ever

The media cycle can be brutal in today’s fast-paced world.  Dozens of interesting stories spawn each day that cry out for the main-stream reporter’s attentions.  Knowing that there is only so much ink and so many propagandists journalists, crucial decisions must be made to ensure that the public stays well-informed about the issues that will affect them the most.  Checking in at the websites of CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times shows us what we as informed media consumers must be most interested in.  We see coverage of important issues such as Passenger’s implant claim triggers flight diversion, US drug agents face probe for hiring prostitutes in Colombia, and Facebook I.P.O. Raises Regulatory Concerns.

But, nowhere to be found is mention of the dozens of lawsuits filed yesterday by Catholic Organizations representing millions of Americans.  There is not one blurb regarding the litigation against the Obama administration and the Department of Health and Human Services over their trampling of the 1st Amendment liberties of religious organizations and conscientious Americans.  I guess the media consuming public is more interested in stories like Iowa Man With Zebra, Parrot in Truck Gets DUI and Zombie blondes invade Facebook with fake profiles than in the pending decision by the United States Supreme Court over the constitutionality of Obama’s signature Affordable Care Act legislation.

The new media is where you have to go to get the real news these days.  Feel free to read the excellent article by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air for all the details on the stand that the Catholic Church is taking in defense of yours and their constitutional rights.
