The forces are in place. The battlefield chosen. Now the fight to retake America really begins.
If you slept in this morning, you may have missed the announcement that Paul Ryan has been selected by Mitt Romney to be his running mate. Reactions have run along a predictable course amongst the mainstream press. They are making their biases know from the start. Amongst the more asinine comments are:
“Ryan has no significant private-sector experience… Ryan’s Washington experience is also light” ; The New Yorker
“This is not a pick for suburban moms, this is not a pick for women.” ; Andrea Mitchell, NBC
“looks a little bit like some sort of ticket death wish” ; Candy Crowley, CNN
“Is Mitt Romney’s decision to choose Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate the GOP equivalent of a concession? What happened to strategic political importance of Ohio, Florida and Virginia? What happened to emphasizing job growth, to voters who say that is their number one priority? What happened to appealing to independent, suburban women voters concerned about maintaining the social safety net? What happened to seniors concerned about their Medicare and Social Security? “ ; Juan Williams, FOX News
Absurd on their face, these comments give us just a taste of what will be coming from the left as the campaign moves on towards November. In the mean time, Obama’s Hollywood stormtroopers took to Twitter to vent about the Ryan pick for Vice President.
Russell Simmons: Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, two men who will destroy our people…
Michael Moore: Paul Ryan? I guess they plan on winning. It’s all about who is able 2 get more ppl 2 the polls. Ignorance fear & hate r great motivators.
Olivia Wilde: Two R’s won’t make it right. Romney/Ryan are Wrong for America.
Michael Ian Black: Romney/Ryan = same initials as Ronald Reagon. THINK ABOUT IT.
The bothersome thing about these people is that I don’t think they have even started getting warmed up. The smear and distort machine that Obama has built will take campaigning back to the days of Adams v. Jefferson. Hang on to your hats. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
